Addition of full-time emergency physician strengthens continuity and quality of care for patients across the region
VIVIAN, La. — North Caddo Medical Center has welcomed Christian Nguyen, MD, to its Emergency Department’s physician team, further strengthening the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality emergency care in their rural setting.
Dr. Nguyen joins John Chandler, MD, and John Woods, MD, as the medical center’s Emergency Department physicians. A core team of full-time Emergency Department physicians supports continuity in clinical practices, stronger collaboration among medical staff and a steadfast approach to delivering high-quality emergency care.
“For a rural hospital, having North Caddo Medical Center employed physicians dedicated to our Emergency Department is significant for our patients and our organization,” said David Jones, CEO of North Caddo Medical Center. “Dr. Nguyen already understands rural medicine and the communities we serve through his residency experience here. Bringing him back as a member of our medical staff strengthens the consistency of care in our Emergency Department and reflects our continued investment in providing quality health.”
A Baton Rouge native, Dr. Nguyen earned a Bachelor of Science in biological engineering from Louisiana State University and his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He completed residency training through LSU Health Shreveport and North Caddo Medical Center.
Dr. Nguyen is the seventh physician North Caddo Medical Center has hired from the rural residency program, highlighting the program’s role in developing physicians with firsthand experience caring for patients in rural communities and creating opportunities for them to continue practicing in those communities.
His commitment to service has also taken him beyond Louisiana. He has provided volunteer medical care in western Kenya through Volunteer Kenya/ICODEI and at Clinica Esperanza in Roatan, Honduras. His local volunteer work includes providing physicals for Special Olympics athletes and medical support at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association wrestling tournament.
North Caddo Medical Center operates a full-time Emergency Department serving North Caddo Parish and surrounding communities. The department also regularly cares for patients who travel from outside the immediate area, including Shreveport, Bossier Parish and neighboring Texas communities.
Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Association.
