North Caddo Medical Center (NCMC) is joining all licensed healthcare facilities, under the direction of the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), in restricting all nonessential visitors. NCMC will continue to serve ALL visitors who are seeking healthcare at our facility. However, precautions will be put in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Individuals entering NCMC will be directed to their lobby’s front desk. They will be given a document with various questions to determine if they meet the guidelines of “Restricted Person” as defined by the Louisiana Health Department. If visitors are meet that criteria, they will be asked to leave or wait in their cars for their family seeking care. All who are requesting healthcare will advance to the appropriate place for treatment within NCMC.
We are aware of the inconvenience that this serves to many of our patients and families. We want to ensure you that we are taking all additional steps to stay in communication with you while protecting and following the mandated policies. NCMC Physicians will have a set time to consult with approved family point of contact about the care of their loved ones while admitted to the hospital. If a family member must be driven to medical appointments by another family member we will assist that person once they arrive at the facility if the caregiver is determined to be a restricted visitor.
Restricted persons are defined by the LDH as anyone who meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Has signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat (as assessed by the facility);
- In the last 14 days, has had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, or is under investigation for COVID-19, or has been or is currently ill with respiratory illness;
- Has been on international travel within the last 14 days to countries with sustained community transmission. For updated information on affected countries, please see: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html
NCMC wants to stress that these steps are being taken only as a precaution. No COVID-19 case have been identified at any NCMC Facility. Questions please contact Mary Coil at 318-375-3235.
